AE flood zone, 26" 'float point', East Beach, Norfolk. Built on 'sandy soil', old sand dunes. The flood waters ebb in from under quickly... just as they ebb out after the storm. The 'Floating Moisture Barrier' accommodates the incoming flood waters all the while protecting the 'atmospheric vapour saturation' levels, even & especially while it is in 'float mode' until they ebb out.

'Post float marks' indicate how high the 'Floating Moisture Barrier' floated by leaving mud lines on the 'pier wraps'. This structure floods 15 or so times a year when the nor'easter winds blow hard off the Chesapeake Bay at high tide.

A crawl spaces 'float point' is the maximum height at which the 'Floating Moisture Barrier' will ascend without rupture. This is determined by the structures 'float obstacles'. The lowest float point assigned to any of our 'Floating Moisture Barrier' systems is 8", the average is 14", our maximum 'float point' is 26".

When a 'Floating Moisture Barrier' is installed in a flood zone & a higher 'float point' is needed we install 'inner vent wells' on the inside of foundation vents if they are in close proximity to the ground. In non flood zone installations if the foundation vents are 'below grade foundation vents' 'inner vent wells' are required as well.

The 'door float' keeps the flood waters under the poly when they enter through the crawl space door. This was is a litlle wonky but it works. Most are standard but some need a little customization. Any crawl door on the ground could use a door float.
